Cairo
Stay from
Cairo, one of the largest cities in both Africa and the Middle East, is the capital of Egypt. Cairo has been a centre of great importance to many civilisations, cultures and religions. From Pharaonic and Greco-Roman to Ottoman and European, and passing by Jewish, Christian, and Islamic, each of its identities has left a strong imprint on Cairo, thus making it one of the most fascinating cities in the world. The Giza Plateau, that includes the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, is the only remaining monuments of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the country's most famous tourist attraction. The sheer mass of the pyramids is awe inspiring. Islamic Cairo, the centre of historic Cairo, is best done on foot. Located east of downtown, it is full of charming little mosques and water fountains. The most important sites to visit are the Citadel, Mohamed Ali Mosque, Khan el Khalili, the main bazaar, some historic mosques and displays of medieval architecture, as well as some of Cairo's Turkish baths or Hammams. No visit to Cairo is complete without seeing the Egyptian Museum. Exotic atmosphere, chaotic traffic, thousands of minarets, noise, charming people, Cairo is a fascinating city. Few cities in the world surpass Cairo in number of monuments or architectural styles. Cairo is not an ordinary city, Cairo is a whole world. - 11 Nov
4 Day Egypt Tour from Cairo to Luxor: Fayoum & White Desert
Guided tour

Day 1: Cairo to Fayoum Oasis, Wadi El Rayan and Magic Lake (L, D)
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from your hotel in Cairo, traveling by private air-conditioned vehicle towards the tranquil Fayoum Oasis. Once you arrive in Fayoum, the day opens up into a journey through striking natural landscapes, starting with Wadi El Rayan and its scenic waterfalls, one of the few places in Egypt where water cascades through the desert. From there, you'll continue to the shimmering Magic Lake and the dramatic Gebel El Mudawara, taking in sweeping desert panoramas along the way. A true highlight of the day is the visit to Wadi El Hitan, the Valley of the Whales, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary prehistoric whale fossils and otherworldly desert scenery. After a day full of discovery, you'll head to your accommodation in the Fayoum area, where dinner and relaxation await at the lodge. Overnight stay in Fayoum at the Fayoum Eco Lodge / Desert Lodge.
Day 2: Fayoum to Bahariya Oasis (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you'll depart Fayoum and set off toward Bahariya Oasis, traveling by private vehicle deep into the Western Desert. The journey unfolds over several hours, with stops made along the way as appropriate to break up the drive and take in the surroundings. Upon reaching Bahariya, you'll check in at the Ahmed Safari Eco Lodge, your base for the night. After some time to rest and settle in, the afternoon offers an authentic taste of oasis life, exploring local villages and palm groves, the striking Salt Lake, and further desert landscapes. Depending on timing, you may also catch a memorable sunset from one of the oasis viewpoints before returning to the lodge, where dinner is served in the heart of Bahariya Oasis. Overnight stay at the Ahmed Safari Eco Lodge.
Day 3: Bahariya to the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, Agabat and the White Desert (B, L, D)
Following breakfast, the real desert adventure begins as you set out by rugged 4x4 Jeep to explore some of Egypt's most spectacular scenery. The route takes you through the Black Desert and the El Haiz area, where a natural spring may be visited depending on local conditions, before reaching the gleaming Crystal Mountain and the striking rock formations of Agabat Valley, framed by rolling sand dunes. From there, the journey continues deeper into the White Desert National Park, famous the world over for its surreal white limestone formations, shaped over millennia by wind and erosion into fantastical shapes. As the sun sets over the White Desert, its rock formations glow in warm light, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The local Bedouin desert team prepares a traditional dinner, and the night is spent around the campfire beneath a brilliantly clear desert sky. Overnight camping in the White Desert.
Day 4: White Desert to Bahariya to Luxor (B, L)
Rise early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the White Desert, one of the most memorable moments of the entire journey. After breakfast at the camp, it's time to begin the journey out of the desert, traveling by 4x4 Jeep back to Bahariya before continuing by private air-conditioned vehicle toward Luxor. The multi-hour drive offers a striking contrast, as the raw, otherworldly landscapes of the Western Desert gradually give way to the lush greenery of the Nile Valley. You'll arrive in Luxor in the evening, marking the end of this desert and oasis adventure, with the historic city of Luxor ready to welcome you.
