   Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon is the largest city in Vietnam. It is a modern, lively and bustling city. It is economically active, filled with lively markets and it is unequivocally the nation’s commercial center. Though the country’s most modern city by far, it retains a unique Vietnamese flavor and you can still see evidences of an illustrious Colonial past of this former pearl of the orient. In the core area, which locals still affectionately refer to as Saigon, you’ll find some of the city’s main attractions such as the Opera house, railway station, Notre Dame cathedral, Reunification Palace, the Saigon river and the Markets. To take a break from the city, you can take a tour to the Mekong Delta or to Da Lat, if you have more time. Da Lat, located in the highlands approximately 300km from the city is worth the trip as there is plenty to see and do including waterfalls, gardens, the old French Quarter and the local restaurants which served magnificent local food. The commercial and financial hub of Vietnam is an exciting and interesting sprawling metropolis that does its best to preserve the way of life and culture of this magnificent county.

   Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho via Cai Be (L, D)

   Departing Ho Chi Minh City by coach for a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Cai Be, you'll board a boat to cruise the Mekong River and witness authentic daily life along its banks. Stop at the Cai Be gathering point and visit family-run workshops producing rice paper and cornflakes, a staple of Vietnamese cuisine. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Can Tho for dinner and an overnight stay.

   
   

   Day 2: Can Tho to Chau Doc via Cai Rang Floating Market (B, L, D)

   Following breakfast, cruise out to the bustling Cai Rang Floating Market, where wholesale traders hang samples of their goods from tall poles - a fascinating scene for photography. Continue along the Mekong to Champa Village by boat, then visit shrines at the base of Sam Mountain, including the Lady Xu and Thoai Ngoc Hau temples. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before dinner and an overnight stay in Chau Doc.

   
   

   Day 3: Chau Doc to Ho Chi Minh City - Airport Transfer (B, L)

   After breakfast at the hotel, depart Chau Doc on the direct road journey back to Ho Chi Minh City, with a lunch stop along the way. The approximately eight-hour transfer concludes with drop-off at Ho Chi Minh City International Airport, with no sightseeing scheduled during this final leg.
