   Chiang Mai is the hub of Northern Thailand and the Capital City of the Province of this name. With a population of over 170,000 in the city proper, it is Thailand's fifth-largest city. Located on a plain at an elevation of 316 m, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it is much greener and quieter than the capital, and has a cosmopolitan air and a significant expat population, factors which have led many from Bangkok to settle permanently in this "Rose of the North". Chiang Mai's historical center is the walled city. Sections of the wall remain at the gates and corners, but of the rest only the moat remains. Inside Chiang Mai's remaining city walls are more than 30 temples dating back to the founding of the principality, in a combination of Burmese, Sri Lankan and Lanna Thai styles, decorated with beautiful wood carvings, Naga staircases, leonine and angelic guardians, gilded umbrellas and pagodas laced with gold filigree. The most famous is Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, which overlooks the city from a mountainside 13 km away. Modern-day Chiang Mai has expanded in all directions, but particularly to the east towards the Ping River, Mae Nam Ping, where Chang Klan Rd, the famous Night Bazaar and the bulk of Chiang Mai's hotels and guest houses are located. Loi Kroh Rd is the center of the city's night life.

On arrival you'll settle into your tailormade tent before heading out for an authentic Elephant Experience, spending time observing and interacting with these gentle giants in an ethical, naturalistic setting. The afternoon continues with a visit to a nearby Karen Village, offering an insight into the traditions and daily life of this hill-tribe community. As the sun begins to set over the Ping River valley, join fellow travelers for a relaxed Sundowner's, a signature Bush Camp tradition, before settling in for dinner under the stars at your first night in camp.

   
   

   Day 2: Full Day of Bush Camp Activities (B, L, D)

   Wake up to the sounds of the jungle at The Bush Camp for a full day dedicated to the associated tour activities that make this safari so memorable. Building on the previous day's introduction, guests continue to explore the surrounding countryside, deepening their connection with the elephants and the Karen Village community while enjoying the camp's immersive natural setting overlooking the Ping River. Meals throughout the day showcase local flavors, and the evening once again brings the camp's beloved Sundowner's ritual, a chance to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures before a second night spent glamping in comfort at The Bush Camp.

   On your final morning at The Bush Camp, enjoy the last of the camp's included activities and soak in the peaceful surroundings of the Ping River one more time before breakfast. After a relaxed morning, you'll be transferred back to Chiang Mai, bringing your Bush Camp Safari to a close with lasting memories of elephants, hill-tribe culture, and glamping in the Thai countryside.
