It is an enormous place full of various different sized tombs, which were lavishly constructed for the powerful Pharaohs, queens, and nobles. King Tutankhamen tomb was found here in the 1920's almost untouched. Other major attractions in Luxor are: the temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak, Medinet Habu, the Tombs of the Nobles, The Ramesseum Temple and the Valley of the Queens.Beautiful and ancient, Luxor is the world's best collection of antiquities.

   Day 1: Embarkation in Luxor

   Your Nile adventure begins in Luxor, where you board the historic SS Misr, a beautifully restored steamer once built for the British Royal Navy in 1918 and later transformed into a luxury vessel for King Farouk. Settle into your elegant cabin or suite, each opening onto a private balcony over the Nile, and take a moment to explore the ship's Art Deco interiors, sun deck and swimming pool. Enjoy a welcome drink as the crew gets you acquainted with the SS Misr's old-world charm, from the Dhabiyyat Bar to the Tashrifa Lobby, before an evening of gourmet dining at the Marasem Restaurant sets the tone for the days of exploration ahead along the Nile.

   
   

   Day 2: Exploring Luxor's East and West Banks

   Wake up to the sight of the Nile drifting past your balcony as the SS Misr remains docked in Luxor for a day dedicated to ancient wonders. Luxor, often called the world's greatest open-air museum, offers access to legendary sites on both banks of the river, from temple complexes to royal tombs. Between visits, return to the ship to relax by the pool or enjoy the panoramic lounge, with the Nile's timeless scenery as your backdrop. In the evening, unwind at the Saraya Lounge with live piano music, or savour a nightcap at the Dhabiyyat Bar before retiring to your cabin.

   
   

   Day 3: Sailing Toward Edfu and Kom Ombo

   Today the SS Misr casts off from Luxor and begins its graceful passage south along the Nile, gliding past palm groves, riverside villages and golden desert bluffs. The ship calls at Edfu and Kom Ombo, two riverside towns famed for their remarkably preserved temples standing right at the water's edge. Passengers can step ashore to admire these ancient sanctuaries before returning to the comfort of the SS Misr, where afternoon tea is served daily and the sun deck offers uninterrupted views of the passing Nile Valley landscape.

   
   

   Day 4: Kom Ombo and Onward to Aswan

   Continuing its journey south, the SS Misr sails toward Aswan, Egypt's southernmost city and gateway to Nubia. Along the way, guests can continue to enjoy the ship's refined amenities - a chilled cocktail at the Dhabiyyat Bar, gourmet cuisine at the Marasem Restaurant, or simply relaxing on deck as the scenery shifts to granite hills and Nubian villages.    Aswan is a city in the south of Egypt, some 680km south of Cairo, just below the Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser, with a population of 275,000. Aswan is far more relaxed and smaller than Cairo and Luxor. Aswan is the smallest of the three major tourist cities on the Nile. Aswan is calming and relaxing and has a laid-back feel to it. Aswan has some unique gems. Rock cut monument Abu Simbel, to the south is one of Egypt's most daring symbols of Egyptian power. The sanctuary temples of Philae and Kalabsha present excursions reminiscent of Greece. Other places worth visiting in Aswan include: The dual temples of sobek and horus at Kwam Umbu, and the well preserved temple of horus at Idfu. Aswan is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Nile.
